Projects
Public initiatives: The office currently supports public pedagogy initiatives as well as other ongoing projects. These include Mapping 101 which features a collection of tutorials to support widespread geospatial teaching and learning and Envisioning Seneca Village, an ongoing collaboration that investigates and imagines the historic(al) New York City village.
Special projects: We maintain a small handful of projects that spin out of our internal R&D programs and aim to share a few of these soon.
Services
Client services from products to processes: Services include bespoke geospatial analysis, cartography and spatial data visualization, review and refinement of existing methodologies, and developing new analytics and research protocols. Learn more about what we do.
R&D
Questions the practice sets for itself: Research activities within the office are drawn from underexamined topics within the discipline. Here the office tests its instruments before they are issued for use elsewhere.
We have continuing programs of methodological research into...
- the means of reconciling disparate and unlike sources (e.g., historical and archival material contorted into contemporary data formats) and its consquences;
- space-time dynamics and their analytical impacts at multiple geographic scales; and
- distance-based measures of spatial analysis, namely approaches that move past overlay and area-based density calculation toward questions of proximity, sequence, and change.
